Virginia firefighters rescued two children who were trapped in a bedroom in a two-alarm blaze that injured a firefighter Monday.
The fire broke out shortly before 1:15 p.m. at the Maplewood apartment complex in Chesapeake, WAVY-TV reports. When crews arrived, they found two children in a second-story bedroom and were able to pull them out of the burning home.
The children were taken to the hospital, and their injuries weren't considered life-threatening. During the rescue, a firefighter suffered minor burns.
Crews were able to get the fire under control just before 2:30 p.m. The flames seriously damaged two units, and the blaze displaced eight people, according to WAVY.
